Secret Garden Hideaway

Secret Garden Hideaway occupies one of the most secret locations in the Centre of Whitby here at Summer Hills, with a private garden accessed from the St Hildas Terrace behind a stone wall at the top of Flowergate it has guests returning to this wonderful location.

Kitchen (kettle, toaster, cooker, microwave, fridge freezer) hair dryer, TV, DVD, sofa, shower, bathtub, towels, wifi, bed linen, iron, 1 double bed, 1 sofa bed. The owner provides parking permits for directly outside the property.

The space

Secret Garden Hideaway Studio at Whitby Accommodation is a family business, it has its own separate entrance with 5no steps for those with mobility difficulties. Guests can access a large secluded garden to sit out in the sunshine for a glass of wine. There is a patio with seating and barbecue for exclusive use by Secret Garden guests. The studio is a perfect base for singles or couples with 2 children who wish to explore this beautiful coastline.

Secret Garden Hideaway Studio is in a hidden private garden a quiet spot a two minute walk from the heart of the town, 2 minute walk to harbour and main shopping area, close to Pannett Park, close to West Cliff and the beach. The area is well served with a wide range of convenience and specialist shops immediately on hand catering for all daily needs. You will find an excellent bakery Bothams, newsagents, off-licence and general stores on Skinner Street, greengrocers, delicatessen, cafes on Flowergate, and one of Whitby’s best fish and chip shops on Silver Street.

There are many music festival weekends including the sixties weekend, soul weekend and Goth weekends, which attract many visitors all year round. The area is a haven for keen ramblers and cyclists with many tracks and pathways close by, including the famous 110-mile Cleveland Way that can be picked up on the cliff top. Whitby is surrounded by spectacular scenery of the North York Moors, which you can enjoy by taking either the Esk Valley train that takes you to Middlesbrough, stopping at the pretty villages dotted along the North Yorkshire National Park areas, or the excellent North York Moor steam train, that will take you from Whitby to the lovely market town of Pickering, stopping off at Goathland, otherwise known as ‘Heartbeat Country’. The lovely coastal resorts of Sandsend, Staithes, Runswick Bay and Robin Hoods Bay are all within close proximity and are well worth a visit.

Guest access

Access is via a key coded private gate in our stone garden wall giving access onto St Hildas Terrace close to all the amenities.

Sleeping is in an open plan studio there is one double bed and one sofa bed (sleeps 4). There is also an option to camp for additional guests at extra charge.

Other things to note

The Studio apartment has a partial view of the upper part of the harbour and a view over our lovely hidden walled garden.

We allow one well behaved dog.

The accommodation is part of Whitby Healing and Spiritual Retreat on this lovely site at Summer Hills. There is yoga, meditation, Reiki Healing and Crystal Healing being offered on site in our Church Hall for our guests. Ask for details.
